Statement of Faith

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may
be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good
work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Calvary Chapel of Edinburgh is a church formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is the foundation and cornerstone of the church. He came to restore man’s broken relationship with God. His finished work on the cross made that possible. (I Cor. 3:11; Eph. 2:20; Rom. 5:6-10)

The Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God and is relevant and applicable to man today. Therefore we place great emphasis upon teaching it in public, studying it in private, and using it as a guide for our daily lives. (I Tim. 4:13; II Tim. 3:16-17; I Thess. 2:13)

Worship: We believe God is worthy of all praise, reverence and love. We take special time to worship Him in church through song. It is our goal to worship Him with our whole lives as well at home, at work, and at play. (John 4:23; Col. 3:16; I Thess. 5:16-18)

Christian Growth: As believers we are to be growing in our walk with the Lord. We encourage this by abiding in Jesus Christ through obedience to His Word, prayer, and fellowship, and by yielding our lives to the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 5:1-4; Rom. 8:29; Eph. 5:18)

Christian Service is a part of the Christian life and is the responsibility of all believers. Our goal is to develop the ministry of every member to use their gifts in love to the benefit of all for the glory of God. (Eph. 4:11-13; I Cor. 12:4-7)

Love is the greatest virtue and demonstration of the reality of Jesus Christ and the fullness of His Spirit in our lives. We endeavour to show a Christ-like love toward all men. Love should be exhibited in our lives by our words as well as our actions. (John 13:34-35; I Cor. 13:13)
